The global launch of the M17 from Marell Boats, featuring Scania V8 engines and E-Machines, will be this summer at Seawork 2024, in Southampton, UK. Scania's electrified power systems on the Marell M17 Patrol is a look into the future of the electrification journey for commercial vessels.
Star of the show is Scania’s hybrid powertrain in the M17 Patrol boat, developed by Marell Boats, which has been supported also by Marine Jet Power. The three companies joined forces to create a sustainable and state-of-the-art vessel to meet the demands of high-performance boats today and into the future.
The M17 Patrol will become the most energy efficient hybrid high-speed craft on sale, thanks to the combination of Scania’s new hybrid technology with Marell’s technical boatbuilding craftmanship. Powered by two Scania V8 engines and two electric motors, this hybrid boat has between 2500hp and 3050hp at its disposal, making it capable of doing up to 60 knots. As well as the ability to travel silently and emissions-free in and out of harbours. Which makes it ideal for operators, police, military and other government bodies requiring high-performance boats for long distance transits while minimising their environmental impact.
This installation is typical to many and meets the demands of the police and other governmental bodies requesting high-performance boats that operate at high speeds during long-distance transits with low environmental impact and quietly and efficiently in harbours. The M17 is a significant milestone in Marell Boats’ hybrid and electrification journey. Together with Scania, they want to lead the shift towards a sustainable maritime transport system.
