The standard configuration includes a rescue runner on the aft deck, extra capacity for rescued persons in emergencies, special areas for stretchers, and a lifting table for lowering rescued persons from the fore deck to the forward compartment.Additionally, the boats are normally equipped with fire pumps and a fire monitor in the front, with special nozzles for firefighting. A rescue crane and rescue net are mounted on the aft deck for the larger boats.

The Marell crafts are designed with a center steering position, inherited from racing and pilot operations. The helmsman's central position provides full and optimal control during boarding and advanced maneuvers. The navigator sits next to the helmsman in a unique and ergonomically designed cockpit layout, necessary for high-speed and intercept operations in any type of weather, day or night, across all climate zones.

The raised fore deck creates a stable platform for the crew when approaching other vessels, while the lower aft deck is a very flexible and stable multi-purpose platform from which the crew can launch rescued persons to a helicopter and successfully carry out SAR operations in open seas.
